Our climatic chambers can control the air temperature over
the range from -70C to 180C and achieve relative humidity of
up to 97%RH. Temperature ramp rates are typically 0.5C
per minute to 1C per minute but rates of up to 5C per minute are available in some cabinets. These
cabinets provide a cost effective solution for long term storage
tests. They are routinely used to assess the integrity of
transport packaging and to monitor the operation of equipment
under environmental stress.
These chambers are typically used for thermal stress testing of
circuit boards and equipment.
Rapid temperature changes are produced by using liquid nitrogen
to cool the chambers. Temperature changes of up to 50C per minute are experienced by the test samples.
An air to air thermal shock machine is also available which
can transfer samples from a zone at high temperature (up
to 150C) to a zone at low temperature (as low as -60C) in less than 30 seconds.
A Qualmark OVS-2.5 HALT/HASS chamber is available and is typically used to assess any potential design shortcomings using omni-axial (6
degrees of freedom) random vibration combined with high
ramp rate temperature cycling. Ramp rates as high as 60C are achieved using LN2 cooling. The test aims to
establish the environmental extremes before failure occurs.
